About Us
Introductions
Hello! My name is Ashley Krohn and my mascot is my cat, Belle. Welcome to our world! I design, craft, and produce each of my pieces by hand. Belle supervises.
Many jewelers will buy charms pre-made, add a hook or chain, and sell the piece. At Saru Pan Accessories, each piece is handcrafted and designed with whimsy and self-expression in mind. We believe each piece should be as unique as our customers.
My Background
I started making jewelry in 2019 with an introductory kit for wire wrapping and beading. I began with the intention of making my own jewelry. I love coordinating accessories with my outfits and having beautiful accessories nobody else has. The first few pieces were not great, but I fell in love with the hobby and slowly built up my skills through years of self-teaching. I've much improved since then and have honed my craft to a professional level.
My first piece:
The next thing I learned was how to wire-wrap stones. I love it. I make necklaces, rings, earrings, etc. If I can wrap wire around a rock and make it wearable, I do. It's not my primary medium today, but I still make stone wire-wrapped jewelry and accept custom orders for stone jewelry.
After stone wrapping, I decided to explore resin. I watched so many videos and taught myself through Youtube. With each new skill I acquired, I became giddy with excitement. Now I have several tall organizer bins and shelves worth of jewelry crafting supplies, and my next medium to learn is clay. I may be addicted to crafting, but that's what I call a win-win situation. I have fun making jewelry and other accessories, and you get to help design the piece or strut your stuff with one of my designs!
About the Logo...
Oh, and you're probably curious about the business name and the cat logo. As my skills grew, the brand grew. I needed something significant to me and unique enough to be fully mine, just like every piece I create. It all stems from my obsession with my cat. She's the best co-worker/supervisor I've ever had!
Her name is Belle, and I have given her tons of nicknames. I call her "the baby," "monkey bread," "butterscotch cookie," and many other things. She eats it up. Belle was adopted when I lived in Japan for a bit, back in 2020. With her unique heritage, I would also nickname her things in Japanese. Mainly nekoni (which means kitten) and Saru Pan. In Japanese, saru means monkey and pan means bread. So yeah, Monkey
Bread Accessories is the English translation of my business name.
Just look at her colors! I'd say the nicknames suit her well. And yes, that's the image my logo is based on, and she is "shrimping" (a term I came up with).
